PORCELAIN STONE TILE

( KÜTAHYA TILE – İZNİK TILE)

Tile Tile Production: Porcelain glazed Stone tile; Biscuits are compressed with a manual tile press using 85 – 90% semi-precious mineral Quartz (SİO2) in the lining and glaze layer, and then left to dry for 2 days in natural environment. A primer consisting of quartz, alumina frit and kaolin is coated on the drying product. And it is left to dry for 1 day again. Drying tiles of tiles. It is cooked at 920 C. Patterns are drawn on the fired tile tiles and painted with oxide paints. It is covered with transparent glaze and fired again at 920 C.

TILE MANUFACTURING SPECIFICATION

Porcelain Glazed Stone Tile is 200 x 200 mm, 250*250 mm in size, 10 – 15 mm thick, weight is between 1080 – 1400 gr, its strength is 200 kg/cm2, glaze hardness is 6 – 7 mohs technical features and is produced in the form of tile slabs by industrial methods.

The production flow chart of Porcelain glazed Stone tile tile sheets, which have the same chemical composition and technical characteristics with traditional Kütahya tiles and Iznik tiles, are given below.

  • RAW MATERIAL PREPARATION

1- Raw materials such as 2-4 types of quartz, plastic clay and frit, which have different grain distributions in the body and composition of the porcelain glazed Stone tile mass, are used. frit; It is made by melting mixtures such as quartz, soda and lead oxide in a frit furnace and pouring this melt into cold water to form glass. The resulting frit is ground in a ball mill with water. The ground frit is precipitated, its water is removed, and it is dried by laying.

  • Prepared raw materials are mixed in a ball mill.
  • Laboratory control is done. And the mixture that meets the criteria is laid and dried.
  • The dried masse is sieved and moistened to make it ready for shaping.

  • FORMING

The moistened masse is shaped by pressing on tile tile sheet plates in the desired size and thickness. The semi-finished tiles are taken to cars and shipped to the lining line.

  • PRIMER PREPARATION

The raw materials used in the lining are quartz, frit, and clay as used in the body. However, the raw materials used here are cleaner and have finer grain size.

  • Raw materials are prepared by weighing according to the recipe composition.

2- It is ground with water in ball mills.

  • Laboratory control is done. And the mixture that meets the criteria is taken and sent to the lining line.
  • LINING

    • Primer preparation process is done even with drums. Primer with certain flow characteristics is poured from the drum.
    • Shaped tile plates are fed.
    • By making the desired weight adjustment, the lining process is done homogeneously by passing the tile tiles under the flow.
    • Primed tile tiles are taken to cars and dried in natural environment for 3-4 days.
  • COOKING

  • The dried tile tiles are fired in electric chamber tile ovens at a temperature of 900 – 960 degrees.
  • While the Tile Tiles are unloaded from the tile ovens, they are packaged by making quality distinctions.
  • Packed tile tiles are shipped to the decoration unit.
  • MAKING GLAZE

    • First of all, frit is prepared for glaze. The mixture of quartz, soda, and lead oxide is melted in the frit furnace. And this melt is poured into cold water to form glass.
    • The resulting frit is ground in ball mills with water.
    • Laboratory control is done. And the mixture that meets the criteria is taken and sent to the glazing line.
  • DECORATION

    • Pattern printing is made with charcoal dust on the needle-punched sketch paper on the Tile Biscuit tiles.
    • Plates printed with Kütahya and Iznik Tile patterns are fed from the line.
    • By making the desired weight adjustment, the glazing process is done homogeneously by passing the tile plates under the flow.
    • Glazed tile plates are taken to cars and dried in natural environment for 3-4 days.
  • COOKING

    • Kütahya and Iznik patterned tile tiles, which are dried in a natural environment, are fired in electric chamber ovens at a temperature of 950-1050 degrees.
    • While the finished tile is emptied from the kiln, it is packaged by making a quality distinction. www.armadacini.com

How is Kütahya Tile Made (Produced)?

Kütahya and Iznik come to the fore as the production center of the art of tile making. However , Kütahya is the capital city of China in this regard and is the leading city . If we briefly explain the difference between Iznik and Kütahya tiles, the infrastructure of Iznik tiles is mainly made of quartz. Quartz is a very hard material. The main ingredient is formed in making tiles by mixing it with quartz clay, which is ground into powder in the mill. The grinding of quartz is a very difficult and laborious task and naturally increases the cost . Kütahya tiles are made with a mixture obtained from clay. Production cost and stages are cheaper and effortless . Production can be made in Kütahya as well as in İznik. There are companies that do it. Its operation is the same in terms of its superstructure. Iznik patterns are slightly larger and plainer , while Kütahya patterns are made with hand embroidery a little more often . However , since such productions are costly today , serial production has been started with serigraph production .
